The recovery position: what the sources agree on, and where they differ

Wed 13 Jan 2027 19:30–20:15 GMT Zoom · Link sent on registration 1 CPD hr

About this session

The recovery position is one of the first skills a learner meets, and one of the most often taught from memory rather than from the current guidance. Small differences in wording between the UK sources lead to learners hearing different instructions on different courses.

The FAV clinical panel compares what each source says today, flags the points that still get misquoted, and suggests a way to teach it that holds up against all of them. Placeholder session – content team to confirm.

You’ll leave able to

  • Describe where the UK sources agree on the recovery position and where their wording differs
  • Explain when to use the recovery position and when to keep monitoring breathing instead
  • Teach the position in a way that satisfies each awarding body
