Paediatric choking: aligning your teaching with RCUK and awarding bodies

Wed 22 Apr 2026 19:30–20:32 BST 1 CPD hr

About this session

Awarding body specifications and RCUK guidance do not always say the same thing about paediatric choking, and trainers are left deciding which to teach on the day.

The panel maps the divergences, explains where each came from, and sets out a defensible position for centres caught between the two.

You’ll leave able to

  • Locate the specific points where awarding body wording diverges from RCUK
  • Decide which to teach, and how to justify that decision to an assessor
  • Keep learners assessment-ready without teaching something you disagree with
